Excitement filled the air as workers, visitors and dignitaries prepared for the long awaited Ribbon Cutting of the Golden Moon Casino. Pastor Travis Willis opened the ceremony with prayer in English and Choctaw. Chief Martin introduced the key players in the creation of the 177 million dollar Golden Moon Casino and Hotel. Yates Construction company, locally owned in Philadelphia, came in under budget and under the construction deadline. Sergio, architect, and Debra Pope, interior architect and designer expressed their delight in working with Chief Martin and the council on such a magnificent project. Chief Martin, being a man of his word, watched his watch to make sure the doors would open as stated at 11am. He cut his speech short in order to keep his word.

The Ribbon Cutting Ceremony opened the doors to a crowd filled with gamblers anxious to be the first on the 1,750 slot machines and 52 table games. Within a few short minutes bells were ringing and machines were clanking with wins and jackpots. The crowd grew larger with each passing minute. The slot techs were busy with hand pays and filling hoppers as fast as they could go. I had never seen anything like it. The steps going to the Waterfall bar in the center of the casino floor, provided a good view of the sea of blinking slot machine lights. The hand pays and hopper fills did take a long wait due to the overwhelming number of wins. Not many players complained, after all they were winners. Casino personnel walked the floor giving buffet and cafe meal comps to those who were inconvienced by the wait. The air was filled with chings, changs and screams of excitement.
